Physical Access to University Library Peterborough (Guild House)

Getting there

Directions to the Peterborough (Guild House) campus are available online on the ARU website.

There are good public transport links to the campus from Peterborough city centre - the number 1 bus from Queensgate bus station stops directly outside Guild House.

Car parking is available on site - this includes a number of disabled parking spaces which are located near to the main entrance. There is same level pavement access from the car park to the main entrance (where a ramp is available for wheelchair users).

When to visit

The library has staffed opening hours, which are different during term and vacation periods. This means that the library is not open unless there is a member of staff present.

The library opening hours are on our website.

The library is busiest first thing in the morning (8:30-9am) and Lunchtimes (12-2pm) can be noisy with lots of students in the library. Saturdays can be busy but noise in the library is quiet.

Many resources are available online, including e-books and online journals, and can be accessed on the website.

The library entrance is on the ground floor - the library is all on the same level.

There is one main room which contains all the book stock, most study spaces and the library equipment. There is a smaller room located at the back of the library which is used as a silent study zone.

Entering the library

Enter through the main entrance automatic doors. Wheelchair access is via an access ramp to the left of the stairs.

From the main foyer the library is directly ahead, behind a set of double doors which are not automatic. Should you require help opening the doors, please ask the member of staff on the Reception Desk to your right.

Follow the corridor to a set of double doors with the sign 'University Library' above the doors. The doors to the library are not automatic - should you require assistance opening the doors, please knock loudly on the door and a member of library staff will help.

There are no toilets in the library itself. Toilets are located directly outside of the library entrance, on the ground floor. There are separate ladies and men's toilets. There is also a disabled access toilet in the same area.
