Please complete our registration form and provide a recent photograph digitally for your library card.
If you are not applying within 3 months of your graduation, the Alumni Office will need to provide proof of your status by email which we will need along with the registration form. Their contact details are available at https://aru.ac.uk/graduation-and-alumni/alumni-network/staying-in-touch.
Cards can only be produced Monday-Friday, take a week to produce or may take longer at busier periods during the academic year. There is a cost of £5.00 for replacement cards.
You will have access to a limited number of our e-resources via the identified Digital Library terminals located throughout the library buildings. These resources cannot be accessed in this way from other devices or networks. These terminals show a link E-Resources for non-ARU members which give further instructions for the service. We provide a list of resources available for "walk-in" access.

Reference
The University Library's primary role is to support the learning and research activity of Anglia Ruskin students and staff. However, we may be able to give access to visitors for research purposes to consult specific materials that are not available from the public library. We may also be able to offer space for quiet private study at Chelmsford only (at Cambridge and Peterborough the demand for space means this is not available).
Cambridge University students can request reference membership for quiet private study purposes at Cambridge site as their university offers the same access to our students. As it is a reciprocal access, we do not charge Cambridge students for a Reference membership card.
There are times we are very busy when we will refuse access to prioritise use by our students.
You will need to apply via completing the online Membership form. Applications can only be processed during staffed hours. If your application is successful, your library card will be produced once your payment is received. There is a cost of £5.00 for a library card (and for any replacement cards). We will need a recent photograph provided digitally for your library card. Library cards can only be produced Monday-Friday, will take a week or longer at busier periods during the academic year. Library cards must be collected in person at our reception desk upon production of some kind of photo ID.
Non-university students - On an exceptional basis we will allow access to students studying for a university-entry level qualification (A levels, International Baccalaureate, BTEC or Advanced Diploma) in order to use materials that are not available elsewhere. This requires a letter of introduction from your school or college setting out the materials that you wish to access.
Private language school students - will not be allowed into our libraries.
Under 18s - we cannot allow access to anyone under 18 unless they are supervised by a responsible adult.
