Diversifying ARU Library's Collections
09 March 2021
ARU Library welcomes your help in recommending books to diversify our collections in terms of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, class and so on, to reflect the diversity of our staff and student community.
Do you have suggestions for books by authors who identify as Black, Asian or Minority Ethic, female or LGBT? Or perhaps authors with lived experience of disability, or who are from the global South? Are there books you would like to see in our collections on diversity-related topics such as intersectionality, neurodiversity, social class, black history, women in STEM subjects? We aim to encourage all students to look at life from different perspectives and use this knowledge in your education.
Let us know why you think it is important to have your chosen book in our collection. Where they are not already in our collections we will add your choices if they are available and affordable to buy, and we will showcase them in our Diversifying ARU Library collection in Library Search. Where possible they will be bought as e-books to ensure that they can be accessed wherever you are studying.
Please fill in our book suggestion form to recommend a title.
