What can I access from the library over the festive break?
21 December 2023
Libraries aren't just for studying, they can be fun and relaxing too.
Just because our staff aren’t available over the festive break doesn’t mean you can’t use our library service, in fact most of our resources are available online 24/7:
BoB (Box of Broadcasts)
Use BoB to keep up with all the festive TV and radio programmes and make sure you don’t miss anything. You can save programmes for future use and even use it for your assignments (if you really want to). Why not check out our playlist of Christmas movies to get you started: https://learningonscreen.ac.uk/ondemand/playlists/49677
The Libby App is a separate collection from our main Library Search which is packed full of magazines, e-books, and audio books that you can access on the go.
- Download the Libby app from your app store
- Select Yes to “Do you have a library card?”
- Search for a library – type in and select Anglia Ruskin University
- Sign in with my card – this will take you to your usual ARU log in screen
E-books and databases
If you still have assignments to work on or just want to keep up to date with research developments then all our e-books and online databases will be available in the usual way. Just log in to using you ARU credentials: https://library.aru.ac.uk/
If you need somewhere to study our libraries in Cambridge and Chelmsford will be open for most of the festive break, closing only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Our staff won’t be available but security staff will be there so please remember to bring your ID cards with you. Full details of the opening hours are available here: https://library.aru.ac.uk/about/openhours.html
If you have any library questions while we’re not around our FAQ pages are as stuffed full of helpful advice as we hope your stockings will be on Christmas Day. There are also our online Subject Guides if you need help finding resources for your assignments and if you send us a message we will get back to you as soon as we can after we return on 2nd January.
