Free online resources to allow you to experience theatre at home

If you’re currently stuck indoors wishing that your life had more drama, then look no further! There are lots of free online resources to allow you to experience theatre, musicals and ballet at home, whether to help with your studies or for a special evening’s entertainment (Dressing up optional).

As an ARU member you have access to the following databases:

-    Digital Theatre + 
-    BBC Shakespeare archive resource
-    BoB  (To get started with theatre on BoB, why not watch the award-winning Shakespeare series The Hollow Crown)

National theatre at home

The following companies will be releasing free content over the coming weeks:

-    National Theatre at home – Streaming weekly on Thursdays at 7pm BST (and then available on YouTube for 7 days after)
-    Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) 
-    Globe Player - Will release 40 free titles over the next month.
-    The Shows Must Go On! Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals. Shows stream on Fridays at 7pm BST, (available for 48 hours after).
-    Hamstead Theatre
-    Pentabus Theatre Company - Released weekly on a Friday at 2pm.
-    Royal Court Theatre
-    Sadler’s Wells - For Performances and workshops.

A few select performances that are now available online include:

-    Cheek by Jowl, A Winter’s Tale. (Until Monday 27 April 2020)
-    Barn Theatre, Henry V
-    Curve Theatre, Memoirs of an Asian Football Casual (Available until Fri 24 April)
-    The Wind in the Willows
-    RSC First Encounters, King Lear
-    Orange Tree Theatre, Amsterdam
